Is it just a fact of aging? I don't think so; here is why:
I am 29 years old, and I received the calling you describe in your beautiful text when I was 25. At the time, I was living in Toronto with my girlfriend and working as an investment analyst.
At first, I tried to ignore the calling to live alone in the woods; I thought it was crazy. The more I ignored it, the louder it became. After a year or so, the calling became so strong that I decided to do it.
I have been living alone in a yurt for almost 3 years now. I am located in Northern Québec, approximately 100 kilometres away from the closest grocery store or paved road. Winters are pretty rough, generally from November to April.
